Synopsis
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
My Review
My Review
Yes you are seeing right definitely 6 Stars! I know! My highest star rating is only up to 5 Stars but what can I do? I ultimately love love love this book. If only I could give this book all the stars in the world I would.
Book lovers are raving about this book. This book is in such hype lately so I decided why not as well give it a try. Basing on the cover of the book it definitely wouldn't attract my attention. I don't have anything against the cover. It is just too plain for me knowing what lies hidden inside the book is something that is so great and brilliant that you cannot put into words when it comes to the excellency of this book.
I totally admire the main heroine Katniss Everdeen. She is the pure epitome of a strong girl. She is strong-willed, determined, honest and fearless. Despite all the odds she has proven what she is capable of and for others to not underestimate her abilities. She lived up to her title "The Girl on Fire". She is the type of character where every girl will surely be envious about.
What I totally love about the book is that it offered me a very exquisite read. The book is so unique it is not your typical "YA Damsel in Distress" kind of book. I guess I'm all fed up with books usually having the female main character always making trouble and always ending up being saved by her "Knight in Shining Armor" blah blah blah end of story. With this book it offered a whole new sense to me of being a girl to be strong and not rely on others all the time to stand up and fight for what you think is right.
All praises for THE HUNGER GAMES! It is so brilliantly plotted and breathtakingly paced intermingling with the chain of action-packed and thrilling scenes. I was hooked from the very beginning until every last bit of it. I savored everything that the book offered me. This book never failed my expectations. It is surely a must-read before you die kind of book.
